JUMUAH MUBARAK!!!1

SLMZ...

I TRUST ALL is well in your world...

one evening an old man told his son about a battle that goes on inside people. He said: " sonthe battle is between two wolves inside us all. One is evil - it is anger, envy, jeolousy, sorrow, regret, greed, guilt, lies and ego.

the other wolf is good- it is joy peace, truth serenity, humility, compassion and hope.

The son asked..." which wolf wins?"

the old man replies " the one you feed."
think. ponder. reflect.

Peace:-)

JUMUAH mUBARAK!!!

aSALAAMU alIaiKUM WA RAGMATULLAH HI WA BARAKATU

... One day a Duck walks into a shop and buys some goodies ...
after ringing the goodies up the shop keeper looks at the duck and asks...
" so how will you be paying, Mr Duck?

The Duck answers: " MMMH ... just put it on my bill!!!"

lol :-)

That joke made me smile this week... i hope it at least puts a smile on your faces...

Another great thing that happened this week ... i was stressed ... work was hectic and then ... like the rain that fell ... suddenlly... i overheard something and  ... i realised that something which is dear to me and billions across the world ... brought great contentment to my heart, mind and soul... so i would like to share it... read it below ...
becuase this week i am not going to type a long email... i am going to stick to the basics ... and try to build from there ... all i want to test is if we can read between the lines... becuase sometimes ... we need to siff through the waste and rubble to find the gem within... and look past the differences and petty squabbles that we have with others and find what is common and beuatiful and immerse ourselves in that which is pleasing to ALLAh swt. We will often surprise ourselves when we realise that we are the essentially the same... at the very basic level... core of it all ... we are all the same... HUMAN.

but what do i know... and ALLAH knows best.
So when you read the passage below make of it as you want. But keep an open mind ...

WHEN i read the aforemeniotned passage ... i reminded myself that i am MUSLIM.
ALLAH HU AKBAR!

think. ponder. reflect.

IF you could read that then well done. my spelling needs work. but i hope the message rings true.

"  Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find content "

Alhumdulillah.
And May Allah swt guide and protect us all.

pS: i recommemded you go visit this website... iMuslim.com / .co.za ... brother Qayumm has pput in some good work to make our lives easier... May Allah swt place barakah in that he does... ameen.

JUMUAH MUBARAK!!!

ASALAAMU ALIAKUM WA RAG MATULLAH HI WA BARAKATU ...

WOW ...  ( 30 000 HASAANAAT) just for greeting the people i care about... Allah hu Akbar!!!
How Merciful is our RABB?

MOst Merciful.

I trust all is well?

And on this pleasant Friday... i wish to say... Jumuah Mubarak... to one and all ... May Allah swt Bestow upon us all His MERCY... and Protection...

WOW... its almost exactly a month since RAMADAAN has passed... shew!!!
and as
i think back to that most great month...
i wonder... will i see another?
i remind myself of the fond memories ... of a month filled with barakah and Allah swt's MERCY.
i recollect ... the many highlights ... amongst a a whole month of highlights ...
and ask myself ... HAVE I CHANGED? HAVE I HELD ONTO THE CHANGES I MADE DURING THE MONTH THAT WAS? HAVE I DRAWN CLOSER TO ALLAH SWT?  i guess we can all ask ourselves this question till we are blue in our face... but the reality of the situation is... have we sustained the momentum we built up in the month that was?

just a thought.
ponder.
think.
react.

theTALENTED MR MUGHSIEN PARKER ...oops RIPLEY!
one of the great stories of my Ramdaan 1423 occurred one  evening after Taraweeg ... having just sat an hour listenig to the visiting MUFTI ... my mouth had become somewhat dry and it begged for something sweet... but my pockets were empty ... and as i slipped my feet into my raggity aged shoes ... (right before left... its sunnah) ... out of nowhere this fella approaches me with a wide smile and sporting a bushy ramadaan beard ... his cheerful demenour illumanating the darkened parking lot ... he stretches out his hand... and says ... " Slaam wa laikum" and places a cote 'or miggonette in the palm of my hand... i smiled. i Loved Chocolate.

LATER that evening i spoke to my wife and i asked her  ... i wonder if that, [the giving me of a chocolate] would be counted as a good deed on his scale... and then my wife pointed out something quite co-incendental ... a MUGHSIN = GOOD DOER ... OR DOER OF GOOD ...
AND THEN I THOUGHT SOME MORE... and it dawned on me ...snd i must admit that during ramadaan ... i read the quraan quite a bit more than i usually do... Alhumdulillah...
and i made a discovery... throughout the quraan the word muhgsin/ mughsinun is found ...
the TAFSIR DEFINES A MUHSIN AS: a good doer who performs good deeds totaally for Allah's sake only without show or for fame...

and usually the verses in which the muhsinun/ muhsin are mentioned was followed by some great reward or they were comforted by Allah swt...
eg.CH2: V112 ... " Yes, but whoever submits his face to Allah and is a Muhsin... then his reward is with his Lord [Allah (swt)] and on such shall be NO FEAR, nor shall they GRIEVE."
AND MY favourite : CH3: v148 ..." ... and Allah Loves Al- Muhsinun"

i learn two things from this event:
1. Its important to know what our names mean and to teach ourselves the meanings of our names and to the best of our capabilities act in accordance to such meanings.
2. GOOD DEEDS/ DOING GOOD could very well be a means of attaining ALLAS swt's MErcy and LOVE.

HADITH:
ANAS (RA) reported that the Mesesnger of Allah (saw) said: " three things follow a dead person 1. his family, 2. his wealth/ property and 3. his deeds. Two of them return and one remains. The family and property return and his deeds remain." [ bukhari and Muslim]

So a final thought to close off ... perhaps in our attempt to GAIN closeness to Allah SWT ... and to maintain the momentum gained during ramadaan... lets do GOOD DEEDS... lots of them ...
Salaah, charity, smiling at people, being loving to your family ...BIG or small ...
it dont matter
what matters is that we do it for the the Sake of Allah [swt].
sincerly.

Peace. Love. and a Kentucky Zinger.... yor it burns!!!

One day Hayder Dhansay was driving when his truck got stuck... he pulled over and stopped the next vehicle to pass by... it was his frend Mughsin PArker ... he asked muhsin if he would do him a fovour and that he would pay him for it... Muhsin reluctantly said yes... and then Hayder opened the truck and told Muhsin to take the two Monkeys tothe ZOO and handed him a R100 note. the three monkeys... climbed in the car and drove whilst hayder stayed behind and attempted to fix his truck ... 5hrs later Hayder makes his way to Cape Town ... and whilst Driving down Klipfontein Road he sees Muhsin and the two Monkeys ... and stops the truck and shouts at Mughsin... :
" HEY! wHAT ARE YOU DOING? i paid you to take the monkeys to the ZOO!!! BUT U WALKING AROUND ... mUGSIN REPLIES : " I DID TAKE THEM TO THE ZOO... BUT I HAD MONEY LEFT FROM THE R 100 AND DECIDED TO TAKE THEM TO SEE A MOVIE!!!
LOL

Jumuah Mubarak!!!

Asalaamu alimkum wa ragmatullah hi wa barakatu...

Alhumdulillah... i trust that you all had a beautiful and blessed EID.

I also pray that Allah swt accepts all your efforts during the month of Ramadaan.

WOW... what a gorgeous day!!!

Just take a look out of the window... whereever you are ..stop . pause. and ponder upon the creation of YOUR LORD... BEAUTIFUL!!!

i also pray that Allah swt gives us the ability and steadfastness. to take advantage of the 6 days of shawaal...
buy 6 get the rest of the year FREE ... Allahu AKbar!!!!

If i think back... i was never good at maths at school. In matric i just scrapped thru with a pass ... but as i sit in my chair thinking back over the month that has just been ... i innevitably start doing some random sums...  29 + 6 = 365 and a 1/4.

If i tell you that my answer to the aforementioned sum is correct... how would you react?  wot would you say? would you laugh?
i guess some may laugh and others would say i must go for tuition.

it doesnt make sense. does it?

HOW MERCIFUL A RABB DO WE HAVE... it is reported that the prophet (SAW) had mentioned that if a  person follows the month of ramadaan by fasting 6 days of shawaal ... then such person will receive the reward as if they fasted the whole year...
Allahu Akbar!!!  ... i dont have a reference ... sorry ... but if any one can assist ...

ok ...lets do the sum over ... 29 (days of ramadaan) + 6 (days of shawaal) = 365 and a 1/4.

So if we think about it ...  if we make the effort, and niyaah  to fast a further 6 days... just imagine the mountain of reward that awaits us.... Allah hu akbar!!!

My message this week is to encourage.. if you are able to ... to fast 6 more days ... if you are fasting then all praise is to ALLAH SWT for allowing you to perform such an act of Ibaada for HIS sake... and May ALLAHswt keep us all sincere ...
i encourage one and all to delay the innevitable ... and delay the ' its back to normal ' attitude and strive ... with your best efforts to take advantage of the MERCY and Gifts ALLAH SWT makes available to us... and let us all purchase 6 more days of fasting for the the Sake of Allah ( SWT) and get ... the rest of the year FREE.

and May Allah SWt accept from us our Good Deeds and increase us all in Goodness, ameen.

i leave you with a portion of an ayaat to ponder over ... it comes from surah yusouf : verse 90 ...

"Verily, he who has Taqwa, and is patient, then surely, Allah makes not the reward of the gooddoers to be lost.''

think. reflect. ponder.

PS: travel safely brother Yusuf ... may Allah swt ... take you safely and dont forget us in your duas .. (musafir)

JUMUAH MUBARAK!!!

Asalaamu ALaikum ...

I trust all is well?

On this GReat day .. of Jumuah ... RAMDAAN 1430 i greet you with a smile... and a heart  bursting at the seams overflowing with an energy .. a strange form of spiritual juice .. forged in the depths of my conscious and beating to the tune of laa illah ha illalaa Muhumad durrasoolulah ...(saw)  ... WOW!.. wot a month ...
 ALLAH hu ALbar!!

i pray that Allah swt makes us all sincere ... ameen.
my message is firstly to myself and then to who ever else can find benefit herefrom...

i trust that this email finds with an certain something extra ... heightened and excitable ... ready to make a difference in the pursuit of ALLAH SWt's Mercy.

I must say that his year has been different in so many ways ... the first and most apparent to me is the fact that i am married this year[ ALHUMDILLIAH] AAND LOVING IT ... AND SECONDLY ... for the first time in YEARS ... i didnt stand next to someone during TARAWEEG salaah who burped a mixture of PINEapple DOUBLE 'O and fish curry... AWESOME!!!!

:- )

QUIT WHILST YOU ARE AHEAD ... never!

... THEIR was once a man who had a son ... his son was deformed .. in that he was only borne as  AHEAD. HE HAD NO BODY, ARMS, LEGS... NOTHING... just a HEAD.
Inspite of the enormous obstacles he faced .. this HEAD .. i mean boy... managed to graduate from UCT ... The HEADS father... oops .. i mean boys ... father was so pleased and proud of his sons achievement that he decided to take his SON to the BAR to celebrate ... he called the bartender and said ... " HEY! BARtender give my boy the shot of your best alchohol " ... the Bartender looked concerned but said nothing and gave the drink ... the boy drank and BOOM! out popped a set of arms ... the father became so excited that he said to the bartender " give him another" ... the boy again drank and this time OUT Popped a body/ torso ... the father and son now both happy hugged each other ... and shouted in unison " bartender another " ... the BARTENDER was still not happy ... and reluctantly poured the drink ...
The entire BAR exploded with excitemetn for what was unfolding before their eyes... THE boy drank again ... and out popped two legs and genitalia ... the father got so excited that he fell off his chair and the BOY got up and excitedlly started staggerring out the door and into  the street ... ONLY TO BE KNOCKED DOWN by a truck...DEAD SILENCE over took the bar patrons ... until the BARTENDER RECKONED ... " THAT BOI SHOULD QUITTED WHILE HE WAS AHEAD! .... HEHEHEEHEHhehehe lol:-)

The very nature of our behaviour during ramadaan sees us catapult from mere mortals ... to ...  well,  we remain mere mortals but way ahead in our previous spiritual condition.

The question is ... do we maintain that condition ... or do we quit whilst we are ahead...?

simple answer to that ... isnt it?

consistency and steadfastness... is key ... we are coming out of a month in which, through the MERCYof Allah  (swt), our sins could very well have been obliterated... and if we now dwindle back to our old ways then we may very well be building up that mountain once again... MAY ALLAH  SWT GUIDE us all.

the trick is to realise that whatever we have done during ramadaan,,, does exist outside of ramadaan ...

Salaah, Quraan, charity, good deeds... fasting ( albeit not compulsory) exists outside of the month of ramadaan ... you probably saying ...wait just a minute ..their aint no taraweeg outside ramadaan... GOT YOU... maybe you do ... but i remind one and all that Qiyaamul layl ( the night prayer) exists outside of Ramadaan ... and so does its more popular but often neglected big brother, TAHUJJUD SALAAH.

its the same thing ... all we have to do is sacrifice ... recommit ourselves to the basis of of DEAN ... the fard (compulsory) acts  ... and make a greater effort to stay away from haraam...

أفش السلام وأطعم الطعام وصل الأرحام

وقم بالليل والناس نيام تدخل الجنة بسلام"

the Prophet SAW said: spread peace and feed people food, and join family ties and stand in the night whilst people are sleeping. You will enter jannah with peace.

i love this hadith...  it is simple and clear ... a form of spiritual food ... and if we allow  ... can sustain us beyond ramadaan ... IF WE ARE MORE CONSCIOUS ABOUT OUR FARD ACTS ... then we build upon it with the voluntary acts ... and in the end ... perhaps our our extra deeds may weigh in our favour when it counts most.

AT the beginning of the month ... i related this  hadith which i hoped would inspire us to do more through during this GREAT MONTH ... and i relate it once more ... to emphasise that what we do in ramadaan does not need to end ... BY ALLAH SWT MERCY ... we have done so well to get ahead of the game ... the time is now to strive with our utmost to maintain the levels ... for Allah swt loves those who are consistent and who persevere in PURSUIT of HIs path...

we must never quit.

and may Allah most high BLESS and GUIDE us all.

think. ponder. reflect.

PS: JUST A REMINDER RAMADAAN IS NOT OVER... AND LAYLATUL QADR MAY STILL BE TONIGHT ... SO I URGE ALL NOT TO BE COMPLACENT AND RELAX...
PS2: FROM MY FAMILIY AND MYSELF ( especially my wife and i) this is our first EID MUBARAK TO ONE AND ALL... enjoy and dont over do it ... do it over ...
PS3:  The human eye blinks an average of 4,200,000 times a year.
PSP: PLEASE MAKE A SPECIAL DUA FOR OUR BROTHER AND SISTERS IN PALESTINE
Wii: no heads were lost duringhte making of this email ... :-)
xbox: if i have said any thing wrong or incorrectthen i ask maaf and isurely it is my error .. and if i have said anything beneficial.. then it comes from ALLAH, most high... and May he bless all that we do.

Peace. Love. EID MUBARAK

a day before JUMUAH... MUBaRAK

----

Asalaamu alikum wa rag matullah hi wa barakatu ...

 Itrust you all are well?

ALHUMDULIILAH... WOT A MONTH... i am feeling a bit nostalgic and sad ... but i live in the Hope that Allah swt.. has forgiven all our sins ... AMeen.

Wot a month.. the people ... the pancakes... and of course the poojies...  i must admit ... i like the poojies... on the other hand i like pancakes as well.

:-)

THEBESTOFPEOPLE

I was listening to a lecture the other day.. and the learned Alim.. was talking about what made the Sahaaba ( companions of the prophet) the best of people... The learned Alim went on to say that they were the best of people becuase when they accepted ISLAM ... they excepted ALL of of ISLAM... and if you look at the Lives of the Sahaaba... they were living at a time when revelation was coming down piece by peice ... and their was no complete version of the Quraan in book format... and when certain events took place .... Allah Swt revealed verses to assist/ GUIDE the Prophet SAW in providing a solution to a situation in which the sahaba and/ or He(SAW) found themself in...

in effect literaly one minute something was allowed and the next it wasn't and as result of a certain occurence  ... bang... Jibreel (AS) would decend with ayat and the Prophet SAW would relay it to the Sahaba... and immediately they would submit and surrender to the GUIDENCE of ALLAH SWT...

in a nut shell that is what made them the BEST of PEOPLE... they RESPONDED.

as a case in point the learned Sheigh spoke about when the Ayahs prohibiting the consumption of liquor were revealed... the people of medina  were reporably at a ' party ' and some of them were in a state of drunkeness and when the ayaahs were revealed they immediatly spat the liquor out of thier mouths.. and starting destroying the stock... it was said that that evening in medina was overflowing with rivers of alcohol... ALLAH hu akbar... no sooner had they heard the commands of ALLAH swt did they put it into PRACTICE...they RESPONDED...

As ramadaan closes ... EID approaches...  a celebration afforded to us by Allah swt... AFTER we have humbly submitted to Him in sincere observation of the FASTing month to reach a pinnacle of our spirituals selves... perhaps for the year...

HOWEVER I came accross an email the other day...

AND I must say that it firstly reminded me and secondly... it alerted me to a danger that our society faces... an issue which  the more i think about the more i believe we have become desensitised toward ... becuase it so prevelant and widespread in our communitties that we have accepted it as the norm... thinking that it is allowed ...

As i read the very explicit pamphlet ... i was reminded that in ISLAM the touching of  a non maharim member of the opposite sex is not allowed ... and is the stepping stone to ZINA ... and sin [ MAY ALLAH FORGIVE AND PROTECT US]  ... which is prohibited.

IT HAS BECOME COMMON cause for members of the opposite gender to great each other with a handshake and even worse a peck on the lips/ cheeks. [MAY ALLAH SWT PROTECT US AND GRANT US UNDERSTANDING]

THE PAMPHLET GOES ON TO QUOTE THE AYAH which states which persons we are not allowed to marry and in so doing tells us the persons we are allowed to greet

" Forbidden to you (for marriage) are: your mothers, your daughters, your sisters, your father's sisters, your mother's sisters, your brother's daughters, your sister's daughters, your foster mothers who suckled you, your foster milk suckling sisters, your wives' mothers, your stepdaughters under your guardianship, born of your wives unto whom you have gone in -- but there is no sin on you if you have not gone in unto them (to marry their daughters), -- the wives of your sons who (spring) from your own loins, and two sisters in wedlock at the same time, except for what has already passed; verily, Allah is Oft- Forgiving, Most Merciful.) Surah 4, verse 23

a special note is made that your wifes sister is not a permanent maharim and thus no touching is allowed...

furthermore... the following  hadith is also mentioned ... " It is better for an iron ROD to be driven into the head of a man, than for him to touch a woman who is not permissable for him" ... at- Tabarani, al Mu'jam al Kabir ( vol20, p. 211) graded as authentic

INTENSE ... I KNOW ... i shiver at the thought ... knowing what i now know ...

i am in no doubt that  We all would love to be considered to be amongst the BEST OF PEOPLE... or to be in their company

We have been through 28 or so days of spritual awakening... we have gone hungry ... we have prayed more than ever ... and on time ...we have read quraan and we have stood in taraweeg...  we may of been tired ...but thier we stood... Why? ...

becuase we wanted Allah SWt's  MErcy and forgiveness...

RAMADAAN ... IS ALMOST GONE ... but its legacy has to be respected ... and we HOPE that ALLAH SWT has forgiven us ... as i read that pamphlet ... i told myself that here it is in black and white ... not from just any source.... but from the Quraan .

and i am left asking the question which burns the brightest

 are we going to RESPOND?

I suggest we at the very least try.

Wa Aliakum Salaam.

i pray that ALLAH SWT GRANTS US ALL UNDERSTANDING AND GUIDANCE AND THE CONVICTION TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT... AMEEN.

THINK. PONDER. REFLECt.

PS: I KNOW THIS WAS  a intense email ... but can we ignore it?

PS2: IF I HAVE offended any one or made and error .. i ask forgiveness ... and if i have said any thing that will benefit ...or is of benefit then It comes from ALLAH SWT and He is MOST MERCIFUL, MOST HIGH.

ps3:

Doctor OSMAN: Did you know that there are more than 1,000 bones in the human body?

muhgsin parker: Shhh, doctor! There are three dogs outside in the waiting room!

PSP:

Dispatcher: 9-1-1 What's the nature of your emergency?
Caller: My wife is pregnant and her contractions are only two minutes apart.
Dispatcher: Is this her first child?
Caller: No, you idiot! This is her husband!

PEACE . LOVE. RAMDAAN KAREEM

JUMUAH MUBARAK!!!

Asalaamualikum wa rag matullaah hi wa barakatu

 i trust all is well?...

Jumuah Mubarak on this great day... the sky is blue... and the mountain is... well there... which is good thing...
just imagine one day you wake up ... and theres no mountain!!!

WOW... for any who lives in CT you will know what a shock that wOULD be... and we just haveta ask ourselves...

" then which of your favours of your LORD shalL ye deny?"

... THE AMAZING RACE
A FEW WEEKS AGAO I TOOK PART IN A RACE... it saw us driving all over the Western cape from Tygervalley to milnerton to a race...  CT etc... it was great fun...

Teams had to complete certain tasks much like the HIT TV show ... and would receive points for the position they arrived at each task and the time it took to complete a particular task ... the higher you finish the more points you score... but theri were BONUS POINTS ON OFFER ... the less time spent on a task and completing a task BETTER earned you more points.

througout the day we had arrrived at each taskmore or less in 5th or 6th position... and By the end of the day we had resigned ourselves to having finished 5th or 6th ... HOWEVER TO OUR GREAT SURPISE... we actually ended 3rd... OVERJOYED and CONTENT with the result... we scratched our heads... and the only reason we could come up with how we ended higher than other teams who had finished before us had to be as result of the BONUS POINTS we collected along the way... awesome... ABSOLUTELY!

it just goes to show that if you concentrate on doing things properly ... and focus on quality over quanitity then a nice surprise certainly awaits you... and THE BONUS POINTS ... do add up...

Talking about favours... Aint Ramadaan just one great big FAVOUR? i was thinking about the other day... HOW GREAT IS OUR RABB ... this month is so awesome that it was made a fard for us... and yet Allah swt makes obtaining the benefits of this month easier for us... think about it... would we in any other month of the year even contemplate fasting for 29 or so days? Would we?

Probably not.. and therein lies the bueaty of this month ... Allah swt ... makes the rewards so easy... eg. if you dont know already any sunnah act done in this month is transformed and its reward is that of a fard... ALLAH Hu akbar! How MERCiFUL is our RABB? So if we greet our brother/ mothers/ wives with a smile ... BONUS!!!

having listenined to the many scholars this month ... i have realised that ONE COULD SAY THAT this is a month of BONUS POINTS ...    everything good we do ... every ibaada we perform sincerely for the Sake of Allah swt ... is multiplied... and recorded and locked away for us... ALLAH hu akbar...

BONUS POINTS ARE ON OFFER ... during this month.. and as the month slowly comes to end... our ibaada should be sharply increasing becuase the best is one its way.. or occured last evening... ALLAH KNOWS BEST.... LAYLA TUL QADR...

we should the seek it in the ODD eveninings of the last 10 days our Beloved Proophet (SAW) has told us... A NIGHT GREATER THAN A 1000 MONTHS ... WHAT i understand is that the night of Lailatul Qadr is the most blessed night in any year and should we miss out on it we may be missing out on the great benefits on offer...AND IT IS FURTHER RECOMMENDED THat we spend these last few days in supplication... and standing in Thajjud prayers... dovoting our time and SLEEP... in the remembrance of Allah SWT...

AND JUST IMAGINE.. on the day when we are all gahtered and acounted... on the day when our books are handed to us... just imagine how overjoyed we will be to receive our books in our right hand... imagine how AWESOMe we will feel if our heightened efforts over the next few days could result in us obtaining Allah swt's Mercy... JUST imagine...

WE SHOULD ALL HOPE IN THE MERCY OF OUR LORD...

in closing...
It has also been reported by Aishah (Ra): "The Messenger of Allah SAW used to exert more (in worship) on the last ten than on other nights." {Muslim}

MONDAY MORNING MUbARAK

----------
Asalaamu aliakum wa rag matullah hi wa barakaatu ...

I trust you well on this monday?

Monday Morning MUBRAK !!!

YEs... i have been quiet of late... busy work schedule... and FLU ... been preventing me from saying Hello on a more consistent basis... Thanks to those who emailed and enquired if i was still alive ..lol :-)  (and about the Friday emails ) and for the rest of your'll loyal readership ... thanks  for your duas...( i hope:-)

NOT to worry but lots have happened in the past few weeks and i have enough material to get us through the next part of the year...inshallah...

RAMADAAN MUBARAK ...

Alhumdulillah... the Last few weeks have sped us by... and now we stand on the footsteps of the Greatest of months.

On behalf of the MSA of the CApe AND MYSELF ... we/ I  wish you and your families well for the forthcoming month and strongly urge one and all to do as much as you can to take advantage of the benefits of this month... and we thank each and every one of you for supporting our QIYAAMUL LAYL programme. We hope it was beneficial and added value to your life.

Every now and then we are asked or we ask ourselves... what is the purpose of this LIFE?
 - i dont have an answer... i am not a  mufti ... but as Each of the 8 weeks that sped us by passed ... a different question was asked... and a different realisation was had ...

the topics of our QIyaamul LAyl programmes have varied... but three things were constant in our pursuit of atttaining closeness to Allah swt ...
1. Quraan.
2. Prophet Muhammed SAW
3. Consistency.

When we search for answers Alhumdulillah ... we always have to refer it back to the Quraan and Sunnah... and therafter we try our utmost to implement what we learn and be consistent... and if we do err ... we repent and work harder and humble ourselves in front of the Almighty... in search of a heightened attachment in our worship ... which will hopefully allow us to become more practical participants in the way we express ourselves ... in an attempt to make us realise that sincerity in our worship is key to attaining Allah swt's MERCY...    Why do we need Allah SWT's Mercy? it is key to our entry into jannah. Why do we want to go to jannah? ... Well ... off the top of my head ... the other alterntive is not even an alterantive...

As i sat listening to my learned friend this friday past... it dawned upon me that the most simple and oft overlooked things are what will realise us the greatest benefit in this life and more importantly it is those things that will determine our life after Death ...
he related Hadith a hadith which best put into perspective what this LIFe is all about ...
( it comes from the musnad of Imaam Ahmad) ...

أفش السلام وأطعم الطعام وصل الأرحام

وقم بالليل والناس نيام تدخل الجنة بسلام"

the Prophet SAW said: spread peace and feed people food, and join family ties and stand in the night whilst people are sleeping. You will enter jannah with peace.

And May Allah SWt guide and protect us all.

Think. Ponder. Reflect.

Wasalaam mu alikukum waragmatullah hi wabarakatu.

[ if i have made any mistakes or offended any one ... i ask for forgiveness... if their is any benefit in this then All Praise is to Allah swt... Most beneficent and All wise. ]

PS: All the best to Brother Khalid ... travel well my brother ... please remember us in your duas...
PS2: apparently caffiene is a natural source of mental and physical energy... i did not know that ..read it on the Coffe tin this morning...
PS3: HALAAL TOUR took us to HERMANUS 2 weeks ago ... TIKKA PALACE... indian and pakistani Cuisine in a quainst setting... lovely atmosphere... and the FOOD wasnt bad either...  i think Its the first fully halaal resturant in HERMANus... [no KFC is not a restuarant...] the owner even went out of his way to let us make our Salaah there ... Well worth a visit... and now its no more necessary to take the AKNI pots with when visiting HERNANUS:-)
Wii: JOKE ... husband leaves a poem 4 his wife...
I wrote your name in the sand... but the ocean washed it away ...  I wrote your name in the air... but the wind blew it away ...
FINALLY... i wrote your name in my heart... and i had a heart attack!!!! lol...
[ PSP: no husbands were killed in the making of this EMail]

Jumauh Mubarak!!!

Asalamu alikum wa rag matullahi wa barakatu ...

Jumuah Mubarak ...

yes its that time of the week... the begginning of the w/e .. and the day of all days... ALhumdulillah...

News making headlines this week:
1. Girl survives plane crash ... just wasnt her time ... Allah knows best
2. Docters go on STrike ... if you do get fired... dont stress...  bafana bafana needs some good strikers? heheh Lol:-)
3. Michael Jackson to be immortalised ... his memory will live forever...

and it was just that what i was thinking about ...

theKINGofPOP

sO MICHAEL jACKSON' Death brings into perspective many things... and reiterates that DEATH can come at  any time... and comes anybody ...

DEATH in general should give us a WAKE UP CALL ... i know that thier is some irony in that statement ... but ... as the world mourns the death of a POP star ... his fans and the people int he music industry say his legend will live on ... reading the newspapers and listening to the interviews ... you dont have to be a rocket scientist to know that MJ had a great effect on people's lives...he inspired people and people will remmeber him ... perhaps for as long as they can...

I always look for an angle... as sad as any death is... we have to rememebr that as muslims we take encouragement from Allah swt... and believe in HIs MErcy ... as long as we do good and ask for forgiveness ...

" AND remind O Muhammed (SAW) ( by teaching the Quraan), for verily reminder benefits the believer" [ Al Quraan:55]

The Quraan is our source of encouragement and inspiration ... in it we find guidance as revealed to our Prophet ( Peace and Blessing upon Him ...SAW) ...  So we should keep ourselves occupied with the Quraan ... in doing so we not only remain in a state of remembracne of Allah Most High, but in fact we will familiarise ourselves with its teachings ... and once we know what it teaches ... then it can have an even greater effect on us... one that will last a life time... and beyond... forever immortalised in our hearts and minds...

The reality is that the Quraan will outlive us all as it has outlived others before...
and it will continue to effect peoples lives... long after we are gone.

the best we can do... is take from it as much as we can...
And Allah knows Best...

May Allah swt protect and guide us all, ameen.

Peace. Love. Chocolate cake... i LUS FOR chocOlate cake...mmmh:-)

PS: Some one emailed me this in the week... dont know its authenticty but i thought of it in light of the above...

Sadaqat-ul-Jariyah ... if we engage in it then it will outlive us...

   The Actions Which Outlive You!
   1. Give A Copy Of Quraan To Someone And Each Time They Read From It,
You Will Gain Hasanaat.
   2. Donate A Wheel Chair To A Hospital And Time A Sick Person Uses It,
You Will Gain Hasanaat.
   3. Share Constructive Reading Material With Someone.
   4. Help In Education A Child.
   5. Teach Someone To Recite A Dua. With Each Recitation, You Will Gain
Hasanaat.
6. Share A Dua Or Quraan CD.
   7. Participate In The Building of A Masjid
   8. Place A Water Cooler In A Public Place.
   9. Plant A Tree. Each Time Any Person Or An Animal Sits Under Its
Shade Or Eats From The Tree, You Will Gain Hasanaat.

PS2: A Cape Buffalo can run as fast as 50 kilometres per hour, and is extremely dangerous.  A wounded buffalo is regarded as one of the most dangerous animals that can be encountered.
PS3: kHALIL aLEKER walks into a bar, he sees two pieces of meat hanging from the
ceiling. He asks the barman, "Why are those two pieces of meat hanging from
the ceiling?"
The barman replies, "It's a competition which we run every night. If you
can jump up and touch the meat, you get free drinks for the whole night."
"Great!" says the KHALIL, "but what if I can't reach them?"
"Then you have to buy all the drinks for everyone all night
,"
the barman answers."Do you want to try?"
"No, but thanks anyway."
"Why not?", asks the barman.
"The steaks are too high."
LOL... STUOPID JOKE I KNOW...
BUT U SMILING SRENT YOU:-)

Jumuah Mubarak!!!

ASalaami alikum wa rag matullah hi wabarakatu ...

YEs, what a beautiful day it is... ALLAH is indeed great!!!

WOW... what an interesting week  in the life of millions of muslims it was...
1. The Eygyptian footbal side gives the mighty BRazil a scare of their life
2. The PAkistani's wip the proteas in the T20 ...
3. The brothers from up north embarass the world champion ITALIANs with some excellent football;
4. The ISlam EXpo SA 2009 hailed a sucess by vast majority of those who attended.

ALhumdulillah!!!

ISLAM EXPO SA 2009

aLHUMDULILLAH ... by the grace and mercy of Allah swt ..we were able to be part of an even tsuch as the expo ... held this past w/e at the CTICC ...

the reports are that over 50 000 ppl attended the event ... Alhumdulillah ...
of that amount the organisers say that 15% were non- muslim ... ALLah hu Akbar ...

Many people are calling  it a success... Allah hu Alim (Allah knows best!)

So all this talk about success got me thinking...
how does one define success?

Does the numbers = sucess ?
perhaps...  but i just came out of a jumuah and the learned sheigh related a saying of the Aisha (RA), one of the wives of the prophet Muhumad SAW, when asked what was the charachter of the beloved Prophet SAW?

She answered... the quraan!

and then i remembered a few verses of the Quraan ... in which Allah Swt describes the characteristics of the succesful ...
surah Al -Muminun ...
Chapter 23 of The Noble Quraan ...
the first 11 ayaat lists certain characteristics of the successful believers ... bismilaahiragmaniragheem
  1. " Successful indeed are the believers,
  2. Those who offer their Salah with Solemness and sincerity (Khashi`un)
  3. And those who turn away from Falsehood (Al-Laghw)
  4. And those who pay the Zakah
  5. And those who guard their (chastity) private parts,
  6. except from their wives ...
  7. ...
  8. Those who are faithfully true to their Amanat trusts and to their covenants
  9. And those who strictly guard their Salawat ( 5 daily Prayers) (& at their appointed times)
  10. These are indeed the heirs.
  11. Who shall inherit Firdaws( paradise). They shall dwell therein forever. "

- AMEEN.

for the tafsir. interpretation/ meaning of the aforementioned verses ... log in at www.tafsir.com

So now we now how to define sucess ...

i guess if as result of the expo ... one person has a better understanding of islam then it can be viewed as succesful and i guess if one person as result of the expo makes his salaah on time and with greater sincerity then i guess the EXpo was a success ...

But in the end ... what do i know ... and ALLAH KNOWS BEST.

i pray that Allah SWT guide us... that he protects us form miserliness, cowardice, and laziness... that HE bestows upon us His Mercy and blessings and that he places humility and sincerity in all that we do and guides our hearts to His path, inshallah...

Jumuah Mubarak!!!

Peace. Love. MY Diners ... wow their food was excellent ... and the bombay crush... to damn duidelik!!1:-)

Jumauh Mubarak!!!

ﺍﻠﺴﻼ ﻢ ﻋﻠﻴﻛﻢ ﻮ ﺮﺣﻤﺔ ﺍﷲ ﻮ ﺒﺮ ﻛﺎ ﺘﻪ

PeaCE AND BLESSINGS upon you all ...
Yes im back... 4 weeks since i last spoke to you guys... but Alhumdulillah im back... and re awoken from my slumber to educate, uplift, inform, Inshallah... darn it...  i sound like a radio 786 ad!!!
nonetheless... What a beautiful day!!!
Jumuah Mubarak!!!

So last week... it was my b-day... 27... yipee ... now no need for you all to run out and get me a present... a dua will do...
so whats up with bdays? i thought to myself?
another day. another year. another gray hair.
:-) big deal.
But to top it all i got some kwaai presents!!!!
April had alot of bdays ... hameed, mohammed, amminah, dawood, zalie, niyaaz, faizel pops, saahier, rafiek, zakirah, najma, qayumm, zunaid, saliem, mustapha... and of course ... Me
OOPS!! ... b4 i forget happy brithday to all.
So it got me thinking... Why Do we really celebrate bdays? and whats the meaning of it all?

HEPPPY BIRTDAY!!!

During the early parts of March this year billions of people gathered the world over especially in Cape town ... to celebrate the bday of the greatest creation that graced this earth ... the Prophet Muhammad [ SAW= peace and blessing upon him]... Moulood ... the masjids where decorated in a sea of colours and the saffs we full and the communities where a buzzzzz ...

So i thought a bit more... it is some 1400 years on and Our beloved prophet' SAW memory... still evokes emotions withiin us all.. there were loads of lectures given to us at that time and one lecture i remember in particular... the imaam mentioned that we dont celebrate the bday per se...  but rather the life and times of our NOble prophet SAW ... and he also said what is the point of putting the lights up and celebrating Our Prophet SAW's bday ... if we dont follow his example ... POWERFUL WORDS INDEED!!!

So what makes our Prophet's SAW lifestyle so appealing ... the Seerah of the Prophet SAw is filled many pearls of wisdom... but IF YOU GLANCE THROUGHT IT YOU WILL UNDERSTAND why it is said that Our prophet SAW was the best of creation and that he had the best of Character and was sent to all of mankind ... muslim ... non muslim ... ALL of us can learn from the Prophet MuhammedsSAW's  life story...

What made the prophet SAw character to be the best? i thought to myself?
Last night i was sitting in a class and perhaps a answer came to me... the learned shiegh ( imaam) mentoned that the prophet saw was a diciplined individual ... whose humility shone through at all times ... in all situations... during good times and in seemingly bad times ... The Prophet SAw .. always humbled himself to Allah SWt... Always rememebred that Allah swt is most powerful and in control of all things... and that whatever occurs in life is by the decree of the Almighty, most high. becuase of his discipline in ibaada, in his interaction wiith people and inhis lifestyle and piety, Allah SWt... elavated him above all.

Discipline, the learned sheigh states is not about humiliaton but elavation.

How is this acchieved?
the sheigh mentions that by acknowledging Allah Swt power ... and that Allah is free of need and want... and that we are always in need of Allah swt... by doing this we display humility... ultimate humility... SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE in a manner of speaking ... in the remembrance of Allah Most high... is the key to shaping our characters ... and elavating us in DEAN ( religion).
How do we do this? ...

in verse 5 of surah fatigha ... Allah swt reminds us
Bismillah hiraghmanir ragheem " ... "إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ
" You we worship, and You we ask for help from"

Tafsir Ibn Kathir mentions ... (You we worship) means, "It is You whom we single out, Whom we fear and Whom we hope in, You alone, our Lord, and none else. We worship You alone and none else, and rely on You alone and none else.

and it goes on to say that the very basis of our dean is built onthese verses ... and from here we develop the sense to do all that we do...eg. perform our 5 Pillars of Islam.

POWERFUL WORDS INDEED... we recite this ayah at least 17times a day ... if we havent reflected upon it before...then i sugeest we start... and if we have reflected thereon... i suggest we humble ourselves even more...  and continue to do so... and if we are then we give thanks and Praise to Allah swt .. for guiding us and we ask Him to Continue to do... ameen .

The prophet SAW's lifestyle is a DIY guide for us all... all we have to do is follow the BEst of examples ... or at the very least try . And remember even if we think that we are far from Allah swt... all it takes is one act ... one sincere ibaada ... For ALlah swt's Mercy is waiting for us... and
REMEMBER ... never... i repeat ... NEVER ... lose hope in  the Mercy of our LORD, Allah swt Most Merciful, Most beneficent!

think. Ponder . reflect.

PS: its good to be back!!
Ps2: Halaal tour 2009 ... EASTERN FOOD BAZAAR... DARLING STREET CApe town... opoosite Post office ... a difference experience... fully halaal ... turkish, indian and chinese food... cheap!!! Ps3: Giraffes have extremely long tongues with a length of 45 centimeters. It is covered with thick saliva and is used to pull twigs and shoots into the mouth where it is held between the lower teeth and the thick hard pad in the upper jaw. Giraffes don't have upper front teeth or incisors but a hard pad where teeth would normally be.

jumuah Mubarak!!!

Asalaamu alikum wa ragmatullahi wa barakatu...

Peace & Blessings upon you all

i trust all is well and that you having a spledid week...

its 34degrees today... Alahu akbar!!!

Struggling towards your objective...

... an oft misunderstood term ... JIHAAD ... why? i dont know ?
that the media portrays it as only being the domain of the violent terrorists... and i know that many people, muslim and non-muslim, are not aware of its other significance ... Jihaad means ' ... to struggle' ... but i wanted to know more... why?

TAKE NOTE: this email is not an attempt to define Jihaad... but rather to highlight that one must not judge without knowlledge ...

well lets begin ... i read an article on Jihaad by a learned scholar ... in which he states  " in Arabic means "to strive for some objective",
my story begins...
SATURDAY, 28th MARCH 2009,
On a clear autumn's evening the wife and i set off for the Simon's Town Naval Show... to view a display some of its best toys...  ships... submarines ... rifles... 76mm land to air rifles... big guns... big ships... big deal? right?
wrong!

as the sky darkened...the stars began to show itself...
as main road emptied...  the townsfolk gathered intheir hundreds ... surrounding the two 76mm aircraft assault guns stationed on the edgedof town.
Everyone was eager to be part of the annual navy festival ... which sees the NAVY shooting flares into the empty sky and then well.. they let loose setting off on a brazen attack... as if to convince us all that our milatary could fend off an attack from any invaders... for about half and hour every year the locals are treated to an awesome display of artilery barraging and battering the invisible enemy... out of nowhere ... the sky is lit up by a sea of red catupulting bullets flung in a distinct pattern one after the other towards its target... and in a second the soft quiet evening roars into life... with loud echoes of the invisible war errupting before your very eye ... and the clattering of wasted shells collecting in a heap...  DA DA DA AD ADA DA DA DADA Da DA ... AN AWESOME DISPLAY IS GREETED BY FRENZIED ONLOOKERS OBVIOUSLY GATHERED THEIR in thier hundreds...for the entertainment... wrapped up in the blankets and coats... and sipping from the pre prepared cups of cofee/ hot choclate... and picnic baskets...  in amoungst it all their i stood and all i could think of was  what the people in GAZA must of felt like for close on a month.

Friday 27th,
last friday the wife and i and family all made our way to the baxter theater. We went their to support the MAdrasutun Nur's theater production, Jihaad. It was a lovely family play that appeals to both young and old.. Given the sensitive subject matter i was left in awe with the manner  in which the production team was able to it together .. and the youngsters put in comendable performances and aded to the worthy show... their were laughs.. and their were tears... but overall it was entertaining...  i believe that it was able to show that that Jihaad has to be seen in context and in its entirety ...

Most IMPORTANTLY THOUGH it highlighted that Jihaad is not only  ... the physical military type jihaad waged against TYRANTS AND OPPRESSORS .. but tells the story of how we have to fight an even bigger Jihaad...  Jihaad un nafs... the jihaad of the soul...  every human being has to endure ... that is choosing good over evil... doing good or commiting sin... Whatever we do as muslims ... everything in our lives has the potetnial to be a jihaad ... If we choose good purely for attaining Allah swt's Pleasure then ... we have succeeded in our personal Jihaad.

In essence, Jihaad, the show depicts the struggle of South Africans during the apartheid regime, and compares this with the struggle of people in Palestine...  set in the backdrop of apartheid SA and occupied palestine ... the play delves into the personal struggle that ordinary people endure ... it explores the understanding that it is the soul which drives our decisions... so we need to harness it in such a manner which will not only allow our bodies...  our minds to act accordingly... but leaves us with the understanding that if we can take control over our nafs for the Pleasure of Allah (swt)... then jannah can be your abode... inshallah.

In essence the freedom struggle in South Africa was not to dissimilar to the Jihaad being fought in Palestine today... ... many people ... women and children died in the Apartheid struggle and many people continue to die in the PAlestinian fight for freedom...

last saturday i was made aware of what it might of sounded like during the early parts of January 2009 in GAZA ... i thought if one gun made so much noise... i shudder to think what sound the  4th largest army in the world makes...
... i make dua for those who have and who do live with the sound of it... i ask Allah swt to protect those people...

as i stood in the midst of the cool ocean breeze... i was somewhat saddenned by the thought of what our brothers and sisters had and have to endure ... but i was somewhat comforted by the following verse ...

"Think not of those as dead who are killed in the way of Allah. Nay, they are alive, with their Lord, and they have provision." [ surah al imraan2: 169.... Allah states that even though the martyrs were killed in this life, their souls are alive and receiving provisions in the Dwelling of Everlasting Life.

May Allah guide us all on Straight Path with sincerity. Ameen!

Requesting your humble du'aas!

think. Ponder. Reflect.

"Okay, we'll just get a urine sample down at the station."

jumuah mubrak

Asalaamu alikum wa ragumatullah hi wa barakatu ...

All Praise and Glory is to Allah swt ( GOD Almighty)... Most Beneficent, Most Merciful.
in Him do we place our trust and in Him aLone do we seek refuge...

We thank Him for this Beautiful Friday... youmul Jumuah...
and may He guide and Protect us all...

I trust all is well?

the night the mountain burned.

i am sure just as many of us were left in awe as we were saddenned by the Fire that ramapaged across Devils peak this past week ... in an awesome display of fire pyro technics the fire swept accross our beuatiful mountain and lit up the evening sky ... and  from a distace the dark evening was bathed in a warm orange glow.

just the other morning on me way to work... our was confronted with the very same mountain ... the very same scene ... yet it was different...

AS i crawled my way up along Kromboom bridge... the Trafic had come to a grinding halt... 5min on the same spot and i started to question my choice of route ... cars seemed to be coming from every direction ... BIG cars... Small cars... all the cars ... one gaol ... trying to force their way into the same littel space...  hooters sounding from every direction ...  and drivers looking straight.. as if the refusal to make eye contact was going to make a difference for them blocking the intesection... the situation was becoming critical and to top it off my damn radio wasnt working... i was about to jump out of the car...  but then it happenned.

as i sat teetering close to the brink of self implosion... the fire raged ... burning within and whispers of not so pleasant thoughts engulfed my mind... and my nafs... i imagined myself to  about to jump out of the car  and well then it happened... before me eyes... a moment chosen for me... written ... for me... a moment of realisation and encouragement ... one to inspire and to make belief strong...

my moment...

yet everybody was at liberty to partake..." Allah hu Akbar!" i thought .... "WOW" i excliamed....

take a moment and Picture this... our beautiful mountain ... DEvil's Peak/ Table mountain from the Kromboom view... imprinted on a clear blue background and the moon gently sitting besides it ...floating... waiting... but for what?

so i am nearing the apex of Kromboom Bridge ... when this picture greets me ... beautiful? right? indeed. but wait theres more ...

NOw picture this ... seeing that i was in traffic ... i was forced to consult my side view mirrors... an then it happend ... reflecting in the distant helderberg mountains... the Sun was awaking from its slumber... gently ... it began to rise to prominence . As it rose...  the mountain bathed itself in a awesome orange glow... slowly ... as the sun revealed itself... then moon began to  fade...

but in an amazing sequence of events ... as i reached the apex of the bridge... the moon and the sun stood still...  if only for a minute... as if they were smiling at each other...  [ at me ] floating... " WOW "  and then the real essence of this story revealed itself...

[ flash back to 1hour ealier] ... i found myslef at the masjid... and i read this verse ... " It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in orbit." [ surah yaseen: 40] ... ibn kathir says this of the ayah ...  that there is no gap between night and day; each of them follows the other with no interval, because they have been subjugated and are both constantly pursuing one another.

WOW! .. beuatiful ... i cannot even begin to tell you what i felt... the Quraan ... jumping out at me and revealing itself in a manner and form i could not have imagined... This is the beauty  of the quraan ... it has the ability to transcend centuries and be as real today as it was when it was revealed some 1400 years ago... I felt encouraged and inspired ... and my imaan (faith) jumped a notch... i could feel it ooze into every corner of my body... i felt goosebumps... yeah itell you... goose bumps...

i dont think that morning would have had such a great effect on me had i not read the english translation of the Quraan ... if i hadnt understood its meaning i doubt i would of remembered that ayat ... on that bridge ...  on that morning and at that time . if i hadnt taken the effort to read the translation or attempt to understand what it is that i recite... then i doubt it would of had the effect that it did.

And i suppose that sunrise would of been...  just like any another.

So my brothers... sisters... if you havent already... then i urge you to try an gain a greater understanding of the Quraan... arabic... whether it be just by picking up the quraan and reading it quietly to youself... or attend classes... and learn from those who know.

Do this... and i assure you that life becomes simple...
after all...
the Quraan was sent as a guide to all of mankind.
" IQRAA, ... in the name of your Lord"

Xbox: A classroom full of first year Veterinary students were participating in their first day of anatomy class. For the lecture, the professor begins by unveiling a dead cow under a white sheet laying on an operating table.

The professor tells the class "In Veterinary Medicine there are two qualities you must possess as a doctor - the first of which is a strong stomach. You cannot, under any circumstance, be disgusted by anything involving an animal's body."

For example, the Professor pulls back the sheet and sticks his finger right up the dead cow's butt, pulls out his finger and sticks it in his mouth. The students just standthere, paralyzed at what they see. "Now, go ahead and do the same thing, each of you," the professor says.

Freaked out, the students take several minutes but eventually take turns sticking their fingers up into the anal cavity of the dead cow, and then sucking on them. Once everyone is finished, the Professor continues on with his lesson… "Now, the second important quality you must possess is a keen observation. You see, I stuck in my middle finger up the cow's butt, and I sucked on my index finger… Now, learn to pay attention."
