... Allah hu Akbar ...
Jumuah Mubarak to one and all ... May the barakah and bessings of this day fill all our hearts and rejuvinate our spiritss to increase our fervour and connection with the Almighty...
UP YOURS!!!
SO those of you who know me long and well enough will know that i am injury prone... yes and my finger problems are well documented, if not legendary ...
Well for the pass week or two i have been walking around with what i thought was a swollen finger... Wrong... my x ray revealed a slight fracture... nothing too serious... but the finger was fractured enough to disable my ability to to the simple things in life...
So in the last week or so i realised and perhaps i was reminded that we have plenty to be grateful for...
Good or bad ... any happening or experience we should be grateful for it.. if it somehow... brings you closer to Allah swt... and somehow remember that someone else out there... is probably worse off than you...
Who would of thought that missing a middle finger would complicate simple day to day things... like...
1. dress myself - its amazing if you middle finger is injured all of a sudden your ability to dress is hampered...
2. drink a cup of tea - damn... it was difficult!!
3. open a door
4. carry a packet
5. turn the ignition
6. type
7. write
8. tie my laces
the list goes on and on and on ...
Its a good thing a got a wife now:-) ... hehehehe
So i was thinking this week. .. do we give enough attention to those simple things we have been given?
just the middle finger ... boi i really do appreciate it... i forgot about it... but damn .. its important...
imagine a life without it?
can you?
Usually when we associate the Bounties of Allah swt, we tend to think immediately about our material wealth and well being ... fancy house ... car... clothing... children ... job ... talents... skills ...
all of these are no doubt bounties... and favours which we have been bestowed with... but do we ever think about our bodies we were given... fingers, toes, eyes, ears... all of these are such great favours that the mind boggles to think ...
i dare you to imagine what life would be without it... and if we do find ourselves with out 'it' ... know that Allah swt will not burden you us more than we can handle... trust in Allah swt... and be steadast... and if we do have 'it' we should rememebr that their are some who dont have 'it' and we should saythank you and be grateful... and do our best with what we have...
and as mentioned in the Holy Quraan...
" Therefore remember Me (by praying, glorifying). I will remember you, and be grateful to Me (for My countless favors on you) and never be ungrateful to Me." [ quraan 2:151]
further more...
فَبِأَيِّ آلَاء رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ [quraan55:16]
... and which of the favours of Your Lord can you both deny?
The bounties that the Almighty has bestowed upon us is immeasurable ... and that list too,
goes on and on and on...
i think it is a wonderful manifesttaion of Allah swt's power that HE could create and give us our bodies ... and inturn endowed each of us with such powers and capabilities that we use our body parts to be able to perform simple day to day tasks...
the question i ask... is it not a supreme blessing of AIIah that He blessed us with the most suitable body to do the things we ought to be doing... ?
i was reading up on the aformentioned ayaat .. and the learned imam ... asks the follwoing of us: " Consider the hands, the feet, the eyes, the ears, the tongue ... the intellect and reason, and the capabilities of workmanship and artistic skill, and one will feel that the Creator has provided a deep relationship and harmony between them without which the human body would have remained useless."
i thiink .. at the very least we can Say Thank you (shukr) for what we have been given... and be content with what we have been bestowed ...
Now i ask u one more time... imagine ... that soemthing which you consider to be second nature is taken away from you... and answer the question
" And which of the favours of your Lord can you both deny?"
the answer is easy...
NONE.
