Jumuah mubarak

Asalaamu aliakum wa rag matullah hi wa barakaa tu ... ( 30 000 hasanaat)

i trust all of you are well?
onthis beuatiful day... May Allah Swt bless you all and May He place barakah and ghair in all that you do, ameen.

theTIME of our lives ...

"Shu!!!" one man said... "is dit daardie tyd al?" ... "how time flies" the other man said.
"i remember when i was young before cell phones and computers..." the elderly of the Two men exclaimed. "yesis, it was just the other day that we were matriculating ... now look we both have kids ..." " do you rememebr the days of Macgyver and A team and Dallas? "

im sure everbody had a conversation simalar to the one above... and yes we all are getting old... with each passing day... we add another day under our belt... and we grow... wiser? hopefully... if we are honest with ourselves... how often do we we catch ourselves playing out the higlights package of our lives... reminiscing of what was and possibly what still can be...

Our lives in a simplistic manner of speaking are made up of HIGHS AND LOWS... and we can pin point the most memorable and most infamous... the moments that make us laugh and those that made us cry ...our DSTV channel 20 ...  Our highlights package.

one such Highlight for me was when i broke my nose (For those of you who can remember )... This week last year i suffered an horrifc nose injury... and just as a reminder ... here's highlights of  what i said a year ago ...
" the sky was blue... and the sun baked all that was in its reach... in the middle of it all... their i stood... with bat in hand i awaited the might of the enemy which i had thus far alluded ... the bowler grunted... stomps his feet... and sets offf ... he fast approachs me... with every step taken his intensity grows... he picks up speed ... my eyes dilate... fixing itself on the target... the little red ball about to come my way... my concentration increases... and the spine tingling excitement erupts within...and slowly the adrenalin begins to seep through... the bowler is about to release that "little red thingy"... [ pause ]

for those of you who dont follow cricket or who have never faced a ball... the time frame from the moment the bowler releases the ball to the moment it reaches you is a matter of one or two seconds... depending on the pace of the bowler of course...so we could say time is of the essence... [ play]

... he releases it... and the ball is hurtled toward me at a speed of approximately 80-90km p/h... this time it was different... the seam was up... i had  deduced that the ball was to land a little over half way down the pitch ... and readied myself for the pull shot... the extra bounce catches me by surprise... and the ball rips off the outside edge of the bat... and shoots off in the direction of me face... kissing me right between the eye and the nose... CRACK.!!! [ pause]

when you hear acrack... their are many things that go through the mind at that time... some are good and some are well...  not so good... all i know is that inthose few precious moments ...i realised or was reminded that... time ...is really a precious commodity.

and the importance of time at times of adversity is streghtened... and we realise how we should value it and consequently how we should make the most of whatever time we are given.

We are blessed because we are Muslim... and Allah swt has made our purpose for life easy... He has defined the very essence of our being created... That is to Worship HIm.

Through revalation and by sending us His Prophet PBUH, we have examples and guidelines as to how best to Worship, GOD Almighty.

Take the 5 pillars... the FAri'id (compulsory ACTS of worship), if done properly and with Yaqin [conviction] we will not only develop ourselves but we enhance and develop and most importantly we improve OUR worship of GOD, Almighty. ...
1. Tawhied, 2. Salaah, 3. Fasting, 4 Zakaah, 5. Hajj ( when able to do so) ...

5 simple ways to spend what ever TIME we have to achieve our PURPOSE AND IN SO doing we are worshipping Allah ...
1. Tawhied... Believing in the oneness of Allah SWt... develop an understanding of Islam... HOw? Perhaps by getting to Know Allah swt... How? perhaps... by reading more Quraan... and reading a tafsir or Translation... as a friend always reminds me... how can we say we love someone when we dont even now the basics... learn. read. spEAK TO PEOPLE IN THE knoW.
2. Salaah ... prompt and hopefully on time ... you will get such a rush that you start asking yourself why have i not b4 ...
3. FAsting ... Only for Allah swt's sake ...
4. Zakaah ... Pay it!!!
5. hajj ... if you have the money .. and the means ... Go for it ... dont delay ... and FIRST go to London... bankok ... turkey...  Paris... First do your duty ... and then go elsewhere... After all once you have the means... its becomes encumbent upon you..... and dont say that you " Im not ready" ... " its not my time" ... Please .. not for me... not for any one else ... Do it for for yourselves. MAKE TIME.

How else can we spend of our time?
well i leave you with this oft loved surah .. all of us know it... its short .. so we like to read it... but its beauty not only lies in its lentgh but the simplicity of its message...

bismillah hiragmaaniragheem ...

" By al-asr (the time), man is in loss... except those who believe ( in Allah SWt)... and who do righteous good deeds... and who recommend each other to the truth (Islmic monotheism)... and who do good deeds... and who recommend each other to patience" [ quraan :ch103]

Just imagine ... what we can do ,,, with the time of our lives.

Think. ponder. reflect.

ps1:  neutron walks into a bar. Says "How much for a drink?" The bartender says "For you, no charge."

ps2: QIYAAMUL LAYL TOMMOROW EVENING at TARONGA RAOD MASJID AFTER EESHA

PS3: 2. If all the people in China were to link hands and walk in single file around the earth, the first one in line would return home to find the country more populated than when he left, due to the vast number of births that take place every second

jumuah mubarak!!!

Asalaamu aliakum wa rag matullah hi wabarakatu

Peace&
Blessings upon U all.

                      ... Allah hu Akbar ...

Jumuah Mubarak to one and all ... May the barakah and bessings of this day fill all our hearts and rejuvinate our spiritss to increase our fervour and connection with the Almighty...

UP YOURS!!!

SO those of you who know me long and well enough will know that i am injury prone... yes and my finger problems are well documented, if not legendary ...

Well for the pass week or two i have been walking around with what i thought was a swollen finger... Wrong... my x ray revealed a slight fracture... nothing too serious... but the finger was fractured enough to disable my ability to to the simple things in life...

So in the last week or so i realised and perhaps i was reminded that we have plenty to be grateful for...

Good or bad ... any happening or experience we should be grateful for it.. if it somehow... brings you closer to Allah swt... and somehow remember that someone else out there... is probably worse off than you...

Who would of thought that missing a middle finger would complicate simple day to day things... like...
1. dress myself  - its amazing if you middle finger is injured all of a sudden your ability to dress is hampered...
2. drink a cup of tea - damn... it was difficult!!
3. open a door
4. carry a packet
5. turn the ignition
6. type
7. write
8. tie my laces
the list goes on and on and on ...

Its a good thing a got a wife now:-) ... hehehehe

So i was thinking this week. .. do we give enough attention to those simple things we have been given?
just the middle finger ... boi i really do appreciate it... i forgot about it... but damn .. its  important...

imagine a life without it?

can you?

Usually when we associate the Bounties of Allah swt, we tend to think immediately about our material wealth and well being ... fancy house ... car... clothing... children ... job ... talents... skills ...

all of these are no doubt bounties... and favours which we have been bestowed with... but do we ever think about our bodies we were given... fingers, toes, eyes, ears... all of these are such great favours that the mind boggles to think ...

i dare you to imagine what life would be without it... and if we do find ourselves with out 'it' ... know that Allah swt will not burden you us more than we can handle... trust in Allah swt... and be steadast... and if we do have 'it' we should rememebr that their are some who dont have 'it' and we should saythank you and be grateful... and do our best with what we have...

and as mentioned in the Holy Quraan...

" Therefore remember Me (by praying, glorifying). I will remember you, and be grateful to Me (for My countless favors on you) and never be ungrateful to Me." [ quraan 2:151]

further more...

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاء رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ  [quraan55:16]

... and which of the favours of Your Lord can you both deny?

The bounties that the Almighty has bestowed upon us is immeasurable ... and that list too,
goes on and on and on...

i think it is a wonderful manifesttaion of Allah swt's  power that HE could create and give us our bodies ... and inturn endowed each of us with such powers and capabilities that we use our body parts to be able to perform simple day to day tasks...

the question i ask... is it not a supreme blessing of AIIah that He blessed us with the most suitable body to do the things we ought to be doing... ?

i was reading up on the aformentioned ayaat .. and the learned imam ... asks the  follwoing of us: " Consider the hands, the feet, the eyes, the ears, the tongue ... the  intellect and reason, and the capabilities of workmanship and artistic skill, and one will feel that the Creator has provided a deep relationship and harmony between them without which the human body would have remained useless."

i thiink .. at the very least we can Say Thank you (shukr) for what we have been given... and be content with what we have been bestowed ...

Now i ask u one more time... imagine ... that soemthing which you consider to be second nature is taken away from you... and answer the question

" And which of the favours of your Lord can you both deny?"

the answer is easy...
NONE.

PEace. Love. and the ancient art of fire Aknie.

Ps: i still luv U!!!
Ps2: heard at a GYM ... "You have to stay in shape. My grandmother, she started walking 5km a day when she was 60. She's 97 today and we don't know where the hell she is."
Ps3: one line joke ... "We had gay burglars the other night. They broke in and rearranged the furniture."

Jumuah Mubrak!!!

Asalaamualaikum wa ragmatullah hi wa barakaatu ...

Peace & Blessings upon you all

So i AM grateful for today... its a beuatiful day ... what i am most grateful for is the fact that i woke up this morning. simple. thats all. another day. another chance. life goes on...

i apologise for not sending a mail last week... i got busy at work... and well the rest is history.

 STOP THE BOYCOTT!!!

WELL THE DEBATE GOING AROUNd OUR COMMUNITY AT THE MOMENT is do we boycott or do we not... do we boycott certain products and companies who have affiliations  to Isreal or not? the argument of course is that by purchasing these products we are supporting the Zionist who inturn are using it to build weopons and pay for ammunition that is massacereing our brothers and sisters in Palestine.. and thus we should boycott them... further, if we buy goods from the companies who purchase Isreali products we are enabling the Isreali army to grow and become stronger....[ 4th largest army in the world]

In essence i have  no qualms with anybody wanting to boycott a particular product or company for the reason that they beleive that by doing so they will be contributing in sum small way to saving the lives of our brothers and sisters in Palestine... or thatthey would be financially crippling the ability of the Isreali's ... in fact it is noble intetnions like these that could contribute to a change in society that would revolutionise the world we live in...

the question i ask today is...WHY ARE WE "BOYCOTTING" ALLAH?
why are we "boycotting" the masjids? think about it.. how many people got up and read fajr this morning? how many people got up and read fajr inthe masjid this morning? OK fajr is early... and we are all tired... ok then ... how many people read ASr in the masjid yesterday? ok.. we are busy at work/campus/ etc...

OK ... OK ... Ok...

As muslims we know that salaah is a afard.. and the benefittes of reading salaah in jammah ( congregation) and on time ... is well documented... so it saddens me to have to inform that in two of the bigger masajids in CApe town... we struggle to fill one/ and 2 saffs( rows) for fajrr.. and speaking to people it seems that many other masjids also struggle to fill a saff.

Alhumduliilaah every good deed we do is inspred by Allah swt.. and we should never believe that becuase we do make fajr in the moorning or in the masjid that we are somehow better than the rest... no! If we are of those who make our fajr on time.. or in the masjid then we thank Allah for that gift... and we are humbled... and if we have not been as consistent in our fajr salaah then we ask  for forgiveness and make sincere dua that Allah swt send a an agel to wake us up in the morning...

So i ask again... why the "boycott"!!!

i believe that we need to prioritise what is important to us. I say whats the use we boycottt all theses companies and products if we cannot even get up for fajr... or even fill a saff for fajr.  I recognise the fact that we are human beings and we err... hell i oversleep from time to time... but can we really oversleep 335 days [ yes i knw a year has 365 days... but i dont count the days of ramadaan... coz Alhumdulillah the Masjids are full and filled with energy... aahh .. how i long for Ramadaaan] .. and if we do forget or miss a salaah we should feel gutted...

we need to prioritise our DEEN. We need to protect our salaah.. all five of them... and understand that we are closest to Allah swt when we are in sujood.

THE "BOYCOTT" HAS TO COME TO AN END!

i relate to you a story... from the times when Islam flourished in Spain... the enemies  of Islam.. wanted to know if they could attack the Muslims... so they sent spiies into the muslim lands... as the one sppy entered intot he Muslim lands he saw a young boy crying along the road... he asked the Boy.. "why are you crying" ... he siad.. " my mother does not want me to join the muslim army until i finish learning the Quraan" [ Allah hu akbar] The spy went back and related his story to the leaders and said "we cannot attack a nation like that"  so they didnt...

YEARS LATER ... another spy went back... he again came accross  a boy crying... and stopped and asked " boy why are you crying..." the boy answered... " my mother didnt want to buy me a she- slave" { may Allah protect us all] ... and that was the beginning of theend...

THE POINT IM TRYING TO MAKE IS ... if we look at the history of "Islamm... Islam rose not becuase they had the greatest of weopons...  ... Islam did not Flourish and receive Victory becuase they were the Biggest armey.... ISLAM FLOURISHED becuase they priortised their DEAN ... and victory does not come from the might of the weoponry... but comes from Allah swt... and the streght of Imaan... lets remember that...

In my humble opinion... it matters not that we eat mcdonalds.. or drink coke ... the enemies of Islam  will be the enemies of Islam and even if they have the biggest army in the world... My brothers... mysisters... i say ...
hold firm.. be steadfast... work hard... trust in Allah swt...
for ... VICTORY COMES FROM ALLAH SWT ...

THIS does not mean that we sit back .. make dua.. and boom.. we win.
NO! Islam is apractical way of life... So we work on it... and put effort in and place our trust in Allah swt...
we make dua that Allah increase us all in our Imaan and may He make us of those who are steadfast in our Salaah... Ameen.

i leave you with a Hadeeth:
anas ibn malik said: " the messenger of Allah swt wa reported to have said: ' whoever performs salatul fajr in jama'ah (congragation) and then remembers Allah untilt he sun has risen and thereafter performs two rak'aat. For him is a the reward equal to a hajj and umrah"
Anas said the Messenger said: ' complete, complete, complete'. [ tirmidhi, vol3, 583]

i know it couldbe diffcult to achieve this everyday... but let us attempt to set aside one day in our week ... or month ... and know that i love you for the sake of loving Allah swt...
and if i hav said anyhting to offend/ insult... or in error i ask forgiveness and if i have said anything beneficial then it comes from Allah swt... and HE is the Most Merciful, All powerful.

Allah hu akbar!!
go forth and seek your out the bounties of your Lord.

fluit fluit.

PSP: The name `India' is derived from the River Indus, the valleys around which were the home of the early settlers. The Aryan worshippers referred to the river Indus as the Sindhu.  The Persian invaders converted it into Hindu. The name `Hindustan' combines Sindhu and Hindu and thus refers to the land of the Hindus.
