aLHUMDULILLAH.. by the grace of the Almighty we sit year in a new year... and even though we are seperated by concrete walls and tarred roads... here we sit.. on the brink of our destined time.. being given the grace of experiecing yet another wonderful Friday... Youmul Jumuah... TAKBEER!!!

ps: the halaal tour 2009 kicked off and saw me and the wife... travelling far and wide in search of the most scumptuos halaal food ... our recomendation...DAWAT PAKISTAANI RESTUARANT... just off left of buitengracght street travelling towards waterfront... GREAT MENU...LEKKER FOOD AND NO ALCHOHOL SERVED ON PREMISEs...so we dont have an excuse not to support our brothers...

BACK TO BASICS...

before we can set out on our adventureS OR TRAVELS... we need to have a game plan ... we need to know what we will be trying to achieve. YES i know...its good to be spontaneous... but... if we think about it... if e really want to achieve...then it all starts with a plan.

The foundations or the basics have to be laid and upon it we build ... slowly and surely we build... we work hard to achieve what it is we want to achieve...

but we cannot achieve... unless the basics are in place... and it is vitally important that we have an understanding thereof.

So it is with this intetnion that i present a hadith which will tell us a bit of what ISLAM is. what it expects from us. and what we should be doing to live a more complete and fulfilling life...

a hadith which identifies the very basics of our dean...

AND may Allah swt Guide and protect us all...

`Umar ibn Khattab (Allah be well pleased with him) said:

"As we were sitting one day before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), a man suddenly appeared. He wore pure white clothes and his hair was dark black—yet there were no signs of travel on him, and none of us knew him.

He came and sat down in front of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), placing his knees against his, and his hands on his thighs. He said, "O Muhammad! Tell me about Islam."

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Islam is to bear witness that there is no god but God(ALLAH) and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God; and to perform the prayer; pay zakat; fast Ramadan; and to perform Hajj to the House if you are able."

The man said, "You have spoken the truth," and we were surprised that he asked and then confirmed the answer.

Then, he asked, "Tell me about belief (iman)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "It is to believe in Allah; His Angels; His Books; His Messengers; the Last Day; and in destiny—its good and bad."

The man said, "You have spoken the truth. Now, tell me about spiritual excellence (ihsan)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "It is to serve Allah as though you behold Him; and if you don't behold him, (know that) He surely sees you."

"Now, tell me of the Last Hour," asked the man.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "The one asked knows no more of it than the one asking."

"Then tell me about its signs," said the man.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "That slave women give birth to their mistresses; and that you see barefoot, unclothed, beginning shepherds competing in the construction of tall buildings."

Then the visitor left, and I waited a long time. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me, "Do you know, Umar, who the questioner was?"

I replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best."He said (Allah bless him and give him peace), "It was Jibril. He came to you to teach you your religion." [Sahih Muslim]

LAUGH A LITTLE LOUDER :

A rylands senior citizen, UNCLE WAPIE [ HEHEH:-) ] drove his brand new BMW Z4 convertible out of the car salesroom. Taking off down the motorway, he floored it to 90 mph, enjoying the wind blowing through what little hair he had left. "Amazing!" he thought as he flew down the HAZEL RD, enjoying pushing the pedal to the metal even more. Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw a police car behind him, blue lights flashing and siren blaring.

"I can get away from him - no problem!" thought the elderly nutcase as he floored it to 110mph, then 120, then 130mph. Suddenly, he thought, "What on earth am I doing? I'm too old for this nonsense!" So he pulled over to the side of the road and waited for the police car to catch up with him.

Pulling in behind him, the police officer walked up to the driver's side of the BMW, looked at his watch and said, "Sir, my shift ends in 10 minutes. Today is Friday and I'm taking off for the weekend. If you can give me a reason why you were speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go."

The man, looked very seriously at the policeman, and replied, "Years ago, my wife ran off with a policeman. I thought you were bringing her back."

"Have a good day, Sir," said the policeman
