Jumuah mubarak!

Asalaamu alaikum wa ragmatullah hi wa barakaahtu

JUMUAH MUBARAK

i trust all is well ...
and that you having a great day

As many hujjaj r busy leaving for Mina a strange hushness sweeps accross the land... bringing with it a serene tranquility and the ensuing breeze brings a Medinite type calmness to the makkan experience often descibed as being hustle and bustle. This engulfs one and all to such an extent that you can literally feel the excitement of ur fellow hujjaj leaping off one another and contributing to the atmosphere which builds and builds until the millions of pilgrims begin a poetic flood ...

... as people begin to flow out of central makkah to embark on the first leg of their journey ...
MINA... by this stage the pilgrims enthusiasm is only curtailed by their quest into the unknown which the days ahead hold... and as they start filling the plains of mina with a pure whiteness... the once barron landscape erupts into life ... bringing with it the a nervous excitement and splendourous euphoria which flows into all corners of your body.

it is this sense of joy and fear playing off each other that shapes your perspective
for that moment and for the rest of your life
to the extent
that it does not matter how many years it took to get there, nor does it does not matter how long the flight may have been or how crappy the hotel is ...
there you are.
one step closer.
for you are the guest of Allah swt,
and you are embarking on a spiritual cleansing
that will hopefully take you closer to the ALMIGHTY.

it is this first day which sets the tone for the next four
which sets the tone for the rest of your life
NO MISFORTUNE, IS A MISFORTUNE
you should be fortunate.

All the while the Hujaaj are glowing... smiling ... crying ... and in their uniform they stand,
 with their hopes and fears,
for the days ahead they lay in wait
...

aah ... how i long to return
but emmensely grateful for having been there.

hajj - is a journey made up of ritual upon ritual.
reenacting events of the past ...
which will shape your future.
the lesson of course is that hajj is not to be relegated to mere ritualism and Hajj is not done because we seek title or fame.
NAY!

It is in the ritual that we find ourselves,
and through the ritual that we connect with events of the past in order to
reconnect with our LORD in the present.
So, if have been, then PRAISe the LORD much.
if you havent been... what you waiting for?

And Allah knows best

after a day spent in MINA the Hujaaj set off for Arafah.
and that is a whole story on its own...
May Allah swt bless and protect us all
and give strength to the pilgrims trying to seek HIS mercy.
Allah Hu akbar

Peace. love...
and a flame grilled fillet steak with bbq basting from the TRAIN in sea point.. WOW!!!

PS: George Bush reckons to a crowd of media persons ... we Americans are so advanced that we will send a man to the sun before the end of this decade ...
puzzeld the journalist asks the former president ... but sir, how you going to do that because the sun is so hot?
Bush reckons: " we send him at night"

lol:-)

fluit fluit my storie is uit!

Jumauh Mubarak!!!

JUMUAH MUBARAK!!!!

LIFE'S A JOURNEY … ENJOY THE RIDE.

LABAIK ALLAH HUMMA LABAIK!!!!

This is the cry that will soon echo throughout the land and beyond… for wherever there are muslims … their will be pilgrims preparing themselves for the sacred journey of Hajj.

Each preparation is differenteach experience unique.

The intentions have been made. The greetings have been said. Apologies have been expressed … and forgiveness have been sought.

Tears will flow, and hugs will be the order of the day.

Emotions are high … Loved ones gather to say farewell … so long … and the proverbial sentiment  " remember us in your duas" it will be said.

Some see the need for travel gifts to follow … what a noble tradition … the community and family coming together to ensure that their friends and family have all that they need. If we ponder a bit on this point …    this is Allah ta'aalahs power in motion.

His mercy … and when He says … He is the keeper and giver of Rizq … He knows what He is talking about… "Take a step towards Allah swt and He runs towards you" … my weak attempt to paraphrase a hadith [May Allah swt forgive me] … save a cent in His remembrance and he will multiply it beyond our comprehension. This is faith.

In the end all the prospective hujajj must do is make the intention… and the rest will follow…

Another reason why people give "slaavatjies" is of course they believe that in some way they too are going with the hujaaj … that even though they are left behind … that the "slaavats" will be utilized to make the trip a little bit easier for the guest of Allah swt… and in that way they too will be rewarded.

At time it is not easy… we are human after all.

Patience is keyfaith is vital.

Belief is non negotiable.

This Journey is immense!

Traveling in itself is not easy … thus this pillar, unlike any other pillar carries a heightened sense of anxiety for it embodies not only a physical movement to be made but one that is intrinsically spiritual. At its root, it is the humanity behind it all that gives this ritual the added spice and zest that makes people want to take it. For within our humanity we realise the generosity of the Almighty and this catapults us on a journey to seek out the One who is most Merciful ... To express our gratittude to the One who is Most Beneificent ... to feel the prescence of the One who is all Powerful ... to be thankful to the One most worthy of Praise

It is these sequence of events that is all the motivation one needs that gets you out of bed in the morning... and that which spurs you on to earn that living and to save the next Rand. Nothing comes without a little bit of effort and the journey of hajj, with all its symbolism, is no different… in a sense … whether we know it, or not ... whether we made intention, or not …

We are all working towards a common goal.

What makes it exciting is the day we realize it ... the day we decide not to buy that 'extra pair of shoes' … because instead we going to save it … we sacrifice not for us … but we make the noble decision to sacrifice for Allah SWT … We slaughter our pride … in a bid to follow the commands of Allah swt … For we are commanded to go on Hajj to the holy precincts of Arabia … if we are by the means. Similarly, as we are commanded to establish salaah or to stay away from wine and swine … these are commands of Allah SWT … commands that we adhere to… going on hajj is no different.

Hajj… whether you enjoy it, or not… whether we take benefit from it, or not … is not the point.

If we say we believe and are by the means… then it becomes incumbent upon us.

For as a muslim … we can travel the world … but should we stand in front of our LORD without our HAJJ … its as if we would have been nowhere. [And Allah swt knows Best]

Even though the actual experience of the hujjaaj is very individualistic, individuals are not the sole recipients of this process … families … friends … neighbours … communities … they all share the joy and despair of the Hujjaaj … and it is this globalization of the process … that is the foundation of this phenomenal experience…  one that lives in your heart forever.

What separates it from other forms of worship is the fact that it effects not only those who are leaving on Hajj but those who are left behind… longing to take this journey.

And then there are those that have been, and who long to return.

I am one of those.

Having been on hajj … and can unashamedly mention that that the journey of hajj …gave me perspective. It gave me a deeper appreciation for the Kalima shahaadah:

[ Pause] -  take a moment ... and say it with me ... Ashadu illah illah ha illal lah wa asha hadu an na muhamadarasoolullah ... let it sink in ... and flow through your veins... let it enter your hearts... breathe ...

By no means I'm I perfect… I have many faults and trials which rage within me … but I battle it. In my own way… I fight it … and one verse from the Noble Quraan has been my ally, my partner in equipping me for life's up's and down's … "Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find content…" [quraan - 13:28]

In the end… we as an Ummah must realize that our individual Hajj journeys have already begun … we OWE it to ourselves to see it through.

And when we do… we will have a greater appreciation of this life … and a new perspective on preparing for the next.

Think. Ponder. Reflect.

PS:       TO ALL THE HUJAAJ… TRAVEL SAFELY… AND REMEMBER US IN YOUR DUAS.

PS2:     Its been a helluva long time since I last sent an email … a lot has happened since then … this feels good

PS3:DID YOU KNOW: THAT The Antarctic ice sheet that forms and melts over the ocean each year is nearly twice the size of the United States
Wii: A police recruit was asked during the exam, "What would you do if you had to arrest your own mother?"
He said: "Call for backup."
ifone4s: A person can live about a month without food, but only about a week without water. If a human does not absorb enough water dehydration is the result.

[If i have offended any one then i ask forgiveness and if you take benefit from these few paragaphs then know it is from Allah Swt and He knows Best!!!]

PEace. Love. and Cinnamon and choclate cake ...mmmp

have a great day!!!

THURSDAY MUBARAK: Mufti Menk’s presents In Allahs Name: Eat, Pray & Love

As salaamu alaikum

Please circulate the folllowing message widely

Nowadays, concepts such as "Zen" and the decree of "the universe" are commonly spoken of - among a mixture of ancient Eastern and new-age philosophies. Many people grapple to find the truth and seek a successful belief system, but Muslims already have a set of beliefs that emphasise the most important of all truths – with consciousness of Allah (taqwa) among the highest of priorities.

Being aware of Allah's presence; being thankful for His blessings; and being careful to obey His commands and abstain from His prohibitions are all attributes that we can internalise when we have taqwa. But how do we develop this taqwa? The answer lies in striving to live our entire lives – whether eating, praying, loving, or doing other things – in Allah's name; "for the sake of Allah".

At this year's Cape Town Reviving the Islamic Spirit Conference, which is just 2 weeks away, such thoughts are to be covered by Zimbabwe's Mufti Ismail Menk – in a topic that explains how we can develop taqwa in various aspects of our lives, including diet, physical health, relationships with other people,  and contribution towards society. The topic also includes brief explanations of how regular acts of worship – such as salaah, fasting, and charity – help to bring spiritual balance into the life of a believer.

The conference runs from 6th to 8th May 2011 at Islamia College, Lansdowne Road; and signing up and paying by this Friday (22nd April) entitles you to a 25% discount off the registration free. If you're interested in attending, you can sign up or find more information at http://www.msacape.org/, or email info@msacape.org.

In a world of great stress, time pressures, Islamophobia, and
confusion within our communities, it can be difficult to stay grounded
and live the life of a true Muslim. We're told, many times, that Islam
is a path of moderation - "a middle way" that leads to success in both
this life and the next.

But how does one juggle the ever-increasing demands of modern life
while still maintaining a strong Islamic identity and a deep
relationship with Allah?
If you're looking for the answers, and feel like you need to be
spiritually revived, get ready for the MSA of the Cape's latest
Reviving the Islamic Spirit (RIS) convention, coming to Cape Town this
May.

The 2011 edition, under the theme "Striking the Balance," will cover
topics dealing with various aspects of Muslim life - such as balance
and moderation; cultivating taqwa; living by the sunnah; interfaith
relations; and marriage. Speakers include a mix of young and old, with
scholars like Mufti Ismail Menk, Shaykh Navaid Aziz, Shaykh Bilal
Ismail, and Dr Fadel Soliman, among others.

Registration opens 7th March, and those registering before 15th April-
will be entitled to a 25% discount on the registration fee of R400.

RIS Topic synopsis

How did the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) manage his time, and what lessons
can we take from his example? At this year's Reviving the Islamic
Spirit (RIS) conference you will find out…

Time is one of our most precious resources, yet many of us fail to
make the best use of it. Some of us spend countless hours on amusement
or sleep, while others are swamped with responsibilities and "to-do"
lists that never seem to end. But regardless of where you stand,
there's no doubt that managing time effectively can be a great
struggle. And, because time is precious, both in worldly and spiritual
ventures, it's essential that we manage it properly so that we can be
successful, insha-Allah.

RIS 2011, which goes under the theme "Striking the Balance", covers
the issue of time management from an Islamic perspective –
highlighting the Prophetic model of time management, as well as modern
examples of effective time management techniques that adhere to the
sunnah.

With the conference just 6 weeks away, signing up in a timely fashion
can score you immediate benefit. If you register and pay before 15th
April 2011, you'll receive a 25% discount on the registration price.

*Don't be Duped!*

* *

If we told you someone was going to climb through your bedroom window at
1:17am, grab your wallet, your watch and your cell phone, would you get your
guard up?

You probably wouldn't think I was serious, say 'yeah right,' and snuggle
into your warm comfortable bed for a good night's sleep.

What if it did happen? What if you woke up and found that your wallet, your
watch and your cell were gone?

If it did happen, you'd be duped. That's what.

Duped: conned, deceived, jerked around, fooled, played, tricked.

While these other words kind of give an idea of duped, they miss one
important thing: to be duped is to see it coming, yet get hit.

If I told you I got news that someone was after you, that someone wanted to
destroy you, that someone wanted to drag you into the depths of hell and was
going to use all the resources available to do it, would you believe me?

What if Allah told you, would you believe Him?

What if that someone himself said it, would you believe it?

What if this person who was eager to destroy you and your family, said: "I
will make things on earth seem attractive to them (mankind) and lead all of
them to error, except those of Your servants whom You have singled out for
Yourself."

Will you be prepared for this attack.

*Please read the attached document to find out about this enemy and how we
can prepare ourselves against his attacks ***
